Sometimes it’s literally not possible to put something into words. Yet, being the tiny creatures we are, we make an attempt at it. To put into words what it was like to work at Wieden + Kennedy, when I did, was something I conducted on the sidelines of my actual job. Writing the stories of what happened, taking photos and video of a scene or event, creating interviews with people and getting it all together to post something which made a bit of sense was the goal. The idea is so simple, yet was anything but.
I can go on and on about it, but the thing that made it work was very clear and very simple. Champion those who champion the work. This value is the first thing you see when you walk in the front door of the agency. Portraits of everyone who works there fill the reception wall reminding everyone that they are the reason the whole thing works.
