A lot of people collect things like toys, art, cars, etc. I collect roads. These are roads that I have been fortunate to ride my bike on. They each offer something different, but they all satisfy that thing inside me that I drive to fulfill. Discovery.
This is a inspiration, sharing, culture-building, and getting-to-know-more-about you-meeting-program that I implement at agencies I have worked at. The program is simple: A weekly, or monthly meeting that is built for a creative team and open to all members of an agency. The price of admission is 2 links.
The links can be the URL’s of anything that person found interesting. Someone studying food culture in San Francisco may have found an article or video they found interesting and worth sharing. The links can be of anything. Making a poster for the meeting provides an opportunity to try out making something non-client related. These are two I have made, but I wonder what a copywriter might make, or a strategist or account person…heck maybe an agency pet.
It’s a way to get to know each other and maybe learn something new.

I have presented the following deck you are about to read to students at 4A’s events in Philly and Boston. I even have gone as far as making a facebook page called truth in advertising. Everyone has their truths that they have earned through trial and error. These were written by Shane Hutton who is now the founder of Arcana Academy in LA.
I go back and look at these slides from frequently. I use them as a reminder to myself of operational procedure when navigating either a creative problem or people. Maybe there is something here that will stick with you too.
Sometimes it’s literally not possible to put something into words. Yet, being the tiny creatures we are, we make an attempt at it. To put into words what it was like to work at Wieden + Kennedy, when I did, was something I conducted on the sidelines of my actual job. Writing the stories of what happened, taking photos and video of a scene or event, creating interviews with people and getting it all together to post something which made a bit of sense was the goal. The idea is so simple, yet was anything but.
I can go on and on about it, but the thing that made it work was very clear and very simple. Champion those who champion the work. This value is the first thing you see when you walk in the front door of the agency. Portraits of everyone who works there fill the reception wall reminding everyone that they are the reason the whole thing works.

The Mullwnlowe Cycling Group came about as I started to know riders who worked in different offices around the world. This was an idea to build community of other riders who don’t ride together regularly.
This is a work in progress of compiling a journey across three countries by bicycle.
Here’s the story on these posters. Interbike is/was a cycling industry trade show that brought together every brand in the industry to show off their latest and greatest. I had an idea while working at Mullenlowe, which was to diversify the portfolio of agency brands by trying to go out and make connections with an outdoor brand. I made these posters before heading out to Vegas to start shaking hands.
My friend past away. He was a dear friend and he died due to diabetes that he had most of his life. At his funeral I realized a common theme that was coming out of the mouths of everyone who I met that day. It was that he is being remembered for how much he gave to others.
He taught at the design school we went to, and he always had extra time for his students. His friends all knew they could call him and he would make time to listen to what they had to say. His work mates knew him as a guy who would continually give more to their work to help them succeed. It was as if he knew the clock was ticking and he had to make it count.
The truth is the clock is ticking for all of us. In my own darkness I did a search for how to lead myself. I came across leadership videos that were focused on understanding behavior. Much of these videos were intended for business and leading teams. So I searched more. Soon I found some authors who wrote about these kinds of ideas. So I read more. Then I started to borrow the language that I was watching and reading. This is a sign that I was really learning it. The funny thing that happened is that I started feeling better.
Soon I was able to recognize behavior in other people. Soon I was finding myself being able to think and do in ways that when I started I did not understand. What I did know is that I wanted to give. Give like my friend had to his students, friends and colleagues. I knew I was capable of helping others have confidence in themselves.
These powerpoint shaped posters were made as reminders of things I can do each day to improve my connection to people. To go from guessing what my be happening for someone to knowing what is happening for someone. The idea is to make these posters visible at my desk. Or, post them around an office so everyone on a team can also practice engagement with other people. There is only one requirement. You have to mean it. In asking one of these questions, you have to be willing to invest all of your concentration in listening to the answer. Try it and see what happens.

This is an Non-profit organization that takes your old phone and repurposes it for doctors who are working in remote parts of Africa where medical records and information are not available. These posters were made when they were just beginning their venture. They are now known as Medic Mobile.

Hello.
We’re Tony & Lindsay. It’s nice to meet you.
Collectively, we’ve worked on a variety of brands and crossed into every category out there. No matter the assignment or whether our clients are big or small, new or established, global or close-to-home, we go at it in one specific way— with a whole lot of heart. From the moment we get the brief, the relentless pursuit is on to uncover that idea. That one, simple little idea that will lead to something big. To the good stuff that makes us laugh or cry. The stuff that gives us (and other people) goosebumps.
This is why we do what we do.
When we’re not chasing down big ideas, we’re two people who love to chase our dreams. To chance fate. To take risks and see where the metaphorical chips land. Along the way, we’ve met some incredible people and learned some pretty profound life lessons.
Together, there’s no shortage of inspiration, determination, get-it-done attitude and of course, heart. The result is award-winning, goosebump-worthy work.
Want to make some great stuff with us?

I adopted Milo in 2023. I thought at the time, hey get a dog. I hope I join the legions of other pet owners in what kind of an impact pet adoption can mean. Milo has changed my life in the best way possible.
Good boy Milo.
Near the end of 2023, I was having a conversation with Ben Huser about collaborating. That led to coming up with names for this union. We had some that were abstract, fun, corporate and silly. We landed on Glitter Pony. I liked it because of the unusual pentameter of words. Come to find out later that a Glitter Pony is what someone is called who is at their 1st Burning Man Festival.
Then a logo mark appeared, some typography and language to go with it, and then a website. Why not throw in some A.I. Glitter Pony nonsense, and there you have it.
We live by the motto that it is better to just do it rather than overthink it. That’s how things get made.
Huge thanks to Joel and Pretty Awesome for believing in us and making a sizzle reel to help us out.
Evolve is a gym located in Dallas, Texas. For over a year I went to a 5:30 AM workout class everyday. After a while, you get to know people and want to help out a small business in any way I could because I am a fan. I was asked to make a 6th-anniversary t-shirt logo design. I had the idea that swag was important to the tribe nature of any gym. Why not make a whole system of logos that represents when a person came into the gym, or how long they have been there…Let’s celebrate all the anniversaries.
