This is an official retirement ceremony for writing a bio about myself, in the 3rd person. A biography of my work history that checks all the boxes of what other people may want to see or hear. Thank you, 3rd person, you have served me well.
Maybe it’s a time of day, year, or life that is telling me to let this go. I have worked incredibly hard to be able to write a true statement about my work history and philosophy. What I have come to realize, is that it’s not for me. This satisfies what others want to hear or see from me. And frankly, I have gone as far as I want to go with making everyone happy.
There are some great takeaways from that 3rd person bio journey. This is my top 3.
Truth #1: You learn what you learn. It does not matter where you learned it. What matters is that you keep using it or improve upon it.
Truth #2: Let go of what other people think of you. It does not matter. They are too busy with their own lives to give a flying f*ak about you. Just be honest and treat others better than you would treat yourself.
Truth #3: Tell a good story. The best ones are usually true. So go live the best story you ever told.
